Nike Air Max 97 Ultra 17 Shoes
As the name suggests, the Nike Air Max 97 was first introduced in 1997 as part of the celebrated Air Max range and was the first shoe to feature a full length Nike Air cushioning unit. The initial concept took inspiration from Japan’s bullet trains and was designed by Nike designer Christian Tresser. The shoe at first was greeted with a mixed reception, a combination of admirers and critics, but as is often the case with footwear, the Nike Air Max 97 gained a cult following and has become one of the most sought after Nike shoes to date, with multiple, vastly different colourways and editions and is now ranked in the top 10 Air Max Models.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 97, Nike has released an updated, somewhat retooled edition of the shoe. The Nike Air Max 97 Ultra '17 remasters the original design, with a new mesh and knit construction, which equates to a lighter feel on foot and sleeker aesthetics.
This super clean Light Orewood Brown/Dark Stucco colour way is the epitome of fresh, with its welded textile upper, bounded signature Nike Swoosh, foam midsole, rubber outsole, mesh lining, the iconic Air Max branding on the heel and the hidden lacing system which blew minds back in ’97.
As you’d expect, the Nike Air 97 Max Ultra ’17 is capped off with the full length Nike Air Cushioning in the sole.
